EXIT FESTIVAL 2010 AIRPORT TRANSFERS: now all fully booked - sorry!

How To Get There

EXIT festival information

European Union Scraps Visa Requirements for Citizens of Serbia

The Exit festival team and people throughout Serbia are absolutely delighted with the change. Previously Serbia had been effectively quarantined since the early 90s and many Serbians had lost hope that they would ever be able to travel freely around Europe.

Exit Festival was initially launched as a protest against Serbian nationalist leader Milosevic’s totalitarian regime in 1999 and it began actively campaigning for visa liberalisation in 2002. The Exit team invited the European Commissioner for Enlargement to the Novi Sad festival to debate the issue soon after.

To prove a point Exit awarded the European Commissioner Oli Rehn the charter of honourable citizenship to “The State of EXIT” The charter listed all the documents he didn’t need to enter the “State of Exit” This was a long list of the documents needed for Serbs to apply for a visa to the “Schengen” countries.(Most of the European countries except the British Isles)

Recently at a press conference in Brussels, Oli Rehn triumphantly announced visa liberalization. He recalled the draft charter and said ‘I remember when we started the struggle for liberalization at the Exit festival.’

If you've been wondering how to get to EXIT festival, well there are many different options available. We've brought together some of the ways to get to EXIT festival here.

FLYING
Budget Airlines, Easy Jet or Wizzair to BUDAPEST, HUNGARY is a popular route as some may want to take a look round Budapest before or after the festival.
It is cheap in comparison and is a top destination for these airlines. Lots of other airlines fly there too but are more expensive.

New for 2010 - Ryan Air are offering flights to Osijek Airport. Probably the cheapest flight travel to EXIT. Fly to Frankfurt, Germany and then on to Osijek, Croatia. Osijek is just 80 miles from Novi Sad and EXIT Festival.
Coach transfers meeting these flights are priced at £18 one way.

Budapest is 200miles from Novi Sad and there is a border crossing which can be a bit of a nightmare. There is a 5.5 hr minibus transfer - direct from the airport to Novi Sad or the journey time can be considerably longer if you go by coach. There are also trains twice a day from Budapest to Novi Sad. There is a regular shuttle service from Budapest airport to the train station.

Alternatively fly to other eastern European capitals and then train it to Novi Sad. Longer journey

Fly to Belgrade direct using either National airline Jat or BA. This is pricey but Belgrade is only 50 miles from Novi Sad. From Belgrade taxi share or minibus is the quickest. Or take the shuttle to Belgrade City train or coach station.

A cheaper way to Belgrade might be by using other European airlines with a stop over in Germany or Switzerland then onto Belgrade Remember there is a couple of hours wait at interlinking airports.

How can I get from the airport to the Exit festival? Transfers by road

Distances from airports to EXIT

BELGRADE SERBIA - only 50 miles away and is the closest - just 1 hour by road transfer
OSIJEK CROATIA - 80 miles from the fest - its a small airport and there's a small border crossing - 2 hours by road
BUDAPEST HUNGARY - 200 miles from the fest with a lengthy border crossing involved - 6 hours transfer by road
(Border Control can increase these times substantially)
ZAGREB CROATIA - 240 miles from the fest - 6 hours transfer by road
LLUBJANA SLOVENIA - 300 miles from the fest - 8 hours transfer by road

What are the choices for airport transfers?

Please note that all seats are now fully booked for tranfers for the 2010 Festival.
We offer a transfer services using small vehicles (8-19 seaters) - alternatively there are cheaper coach services. Although our services cost more we recommend them for the following reasons:

Mainline Coaches have known to take 10-12 hours to get to their destination instead of the 6 hours the journey is supposeed to take. This is mainly due to the border crossing procedure for larger vehicles which can have long delays because of the above average movement of transport due to Exit Festival. Additionally they are only available at fixed flight arrivals serviced by the Budget Airlines.

Being smaller we can be far more flexible on times and cover more flights which means far less hanging around time!

We only arrange private transfers with smaller vehicles which has these benefits:
A 19 seater is 3 times quicker to load and unload because it is much easier to gather 18 passengers than 54 passengers.
A smaller vehicle is much quicker through border crossings customs and passport control.
Also our smaller vehicles deliver and collect door to door so passengers do not need to worry about getting to rendezvous points or missing their ride.

Last year our Budapest 7-8 seaters sailed through border crossing leaving the coach companies queuing.
From Belgrade we use a regular taxi company that ensures you are whisked away to your destination without waiting around.
While it is true that our prices are higher than the coach companies we feel the advantages and benefits of our service in terms of speed of transfer and shorter journey times outweigh the additional costs. In short - We prefer to get everyone to their destinations in the shortest time possible and quickly
